چکیده

The aim of this paper is to show the possible coexistence of an HAP and a terrestrial component of 3G networks at a single carrier frequency. The main goal is to compare the basic parameters of terrestrial and HAP component 3G networks modeled in suburban (macrocell) and urban (macro/microcell) areas and to demonstrate the way they impact on each other. This study should present what we assume are the better capabilities of HAP 3G networks compared to their terrestrial counterparts. The parameters of the HAP and terrestrial component of 3G networks, were the terrestrial cells to be disabled during disasters, are also presented.

Downlink Coexistence Performance Assessment and Techniques for WiMAX Services from High Altitude Platform and Terrestrial Deployments

We investigate the performance and coexistence techniques for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) delivered from high altitude platforms (HAPs) and terrestrial systems in shared 3.5 GHz frequency bands. The paper shows that it is possible to provide WiMAX services from individual HAP systems. The coexistence performance is evaluated by appropriate choice of parameters, which...

Broadband Communications and Applications from High Altitude Platforms

In this paper, we give an overview of using High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) for providing wireless telecommunication and broadband communication services. Comparisons of HAPs, satellite and terrestrial systems are shown to illustrate unique characteristics of the system. Three architectures for HAP systems are discussed in terms of cooperation with terrestrial and satellite systems. Telecommunic...

Downlink Performance of WiMAX Broadband from High Altitude Platform and Terrestrial Deployments sharing a common 3.5GHz band

A downlink performance of deploying WiMAX (IEEE802.16a) both from High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) and from terrestrial base stations sharing the 3.5GHz band is presented. It is shown how these two wireless communication configurations can coexist with either adjacent or overlaying coverage areas. The performance of each deployment is affected by factors such as transmission power, antenna beamwi...

The Role of HAPs in Supporting Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Services in Terrestrial-Satellite Integrated Systems

New-generation telecommunications systems are expected to meet the rising user exigencies of mobility and ubiquitous access to multimedia services. As a consequence, 3GPP consortium has introduced the Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (MBMS) concept into 3G/beyond-3G networks. Supporting MBMS in next generation hybrid wireless platforms becomes a challenging issue due to high traffic l...

An efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...
